  For six years The Gena Branscombe Project has awarded scholarships to up-and-coming Arts Administrators, Conductors and Composers.  Our winners have proven themselves as music scholars, conductors whose talents raise performance standards and leaders of organizations where they involve their local community to participate in the arts.  Most of all, they are caring people whose mission is to make the world a better place.   One of our missions has been to stay in touch with our winners.   We meet them for breakfast, coffee or lunch when they are in New York City or Boston.   Wonderful conversations have taken place where we learn of their personal and professional goals.   We attend their concerts and events.   One other joy in this mission is introducing the winners to one another.   Recently Damali Willingham (2020 Composer winner) and Braeden Weyhrich (2024 Conductor winner) met at Georgia State University where Braeden will be conduc...

  Over the past four years through donations and the purchase of The Gena Branscombe Project merchandise, the money we have received has allowed us to award scholarships to an up-and-coming Arts Administrator, Conductor and Composer.   The Gena Branscombe Project proudly announces their 2021 scholarships winners. Congratulations are given to Michaela (Micah) Gleason, Conductor; Cameron Smith, Composer; Melissa Yanchak, Arts Administrator.  In addition, Jane Kozhevnikova was the recipient of our Art Song Commission award.   These scholarship recipients will carry forth Miss Branscombe’s values throughout their careers.  They demonstrate the best of musical creativity which embraces humanity’s diversity and a resolve to hold high the tenets of artistic expression.   #BringingBackBranscombe

For over 20 years, it has been an honor to work on the music and life of composer Gena Branscombe.  The Gena Branscombe Project is announcing their second annual scholarships for an emerging student conductor, composer and arts administrator.  See details below! The Gena Branscombe Project is proud to announce that applications for the 2021 scholarships will open March 8, 2021, International Women's Day! A scholarship will be awarded to an emerging student composer, conductor, and arts administrator. In addition, this year we will offer a Composer Commission Prize. Twenty years have passed since I began The Gena Branscombe Project.  Exploring her music, recording her songs and piano works, meeting her family, creating a one-woman show and much, much more became my musical mission. Then three years ago, Dan Ryan, conductor, friend and all around wonderful person, discovered Gena's music by purchasing a copy of her oratorio, Pilgrims of Destiny , at a yard sale.  Because of his purchase, a performance of the oratorio happened in April 2019 at Clark University in Worcester, MA.  As I have told Dan on a number of occasions, he was chosen to continue the work on Miss Branscombe's legacy. Our next step forward, thanks to Dan's creativity and hard work, is The Gena Branscombe Project website.  There is much happening in the future including an April 2020 concert in Boston of Miss Branscombe's music.  In addition, we are offering three scholarships in her name.  You can apply online. https://www.thegenabransc...
